Lavalval Chain is one of the scarcest, most-wanted Xyz Monsters in the game right now, but Return of the Bling brings it to the masses! On March 20th this killer Xyz will be reborn in high-style as a Gold Rare, and that’s good news for Duel-fans worldwide.
Where to run it? Right now, the biggest place to play Lavalval Chain is none other than the mighty Nekroz Deck.
The Nekroz strategy commands all sorts of nasty tricks, but Djinn Releaser of Rituals might be the most brutal. When you make a Ritual Summon, you can banish Djinn Releaser from your graveyard in place of a regular Tribute. When you use Djinn Releaser to pay for your Ritual Summon, your opponent can’t Special Summon so long as your Ritual Monster remains face-up.
Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands searches a Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell from your Deck, fueling all your best Nekroz tricks. Use it to search out Nekroz of Unicore or Nekroz Kaleidoscope, and you can Kaleidoscope to send Herald of the Arc Light from your Extra Deck to your Graveyard, Ritual Summoning Unicore. That’ll trigger Arc Light’s effect, getting you another Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell search. Grab Nekroz of Clausolas or any Nekroz Ritual Spell – whichever one you don’t have.
Next, overlay your Level 4 Manju and Level 4 Nekroz of Unicore to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain. Detach Unicore to use Lavalval Chain’s ability and send Djinn Releaser of Rituals from your Deck to your Graveyard.
Activate your Nekroz Ritual Spell, and banish Djinn Releaser of Rituals from your Graveyard as Tribute to Ritual Summon Nekroz of Clausolas. Since Clausolas is Level 3, Djinn Releaser will pay the entire Tribute. Clausolas packs a powerful 2300 DEF; if your opponent can’t Special Summon to get over it, they’ll need to flip it face-down or remove it from the field with an effect to break your set-up. If they can’t do it fast enough that’s game over – you’ll have total control over the field.
Lavalval Chain’s awesome in lots of other Decks, too. Summoner Monk’s a Level 4 with a powerful effect: it lets you discard a Spell to Special Summon any Level 4 monster from your Deck. There are lots of ways to use that ability, but it’s especially good in Volcanics.
First, Normal Summon the Monk. Pitch a Spell Card to Special Summon Volcanic Rocket from your Deck, and activate the Rocket’s ability to search Blaze Accelerator Reload and add it to your hand. Overlay Summoner Monk and Volcanic Rocket to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain, and you can detach an Xyz Material to send a card of your choice to your Graveyard. You have lots of options:
-When Volcanic Shell’s in the graveyard, you can pay 500 Life Points to search another Shell from your Deck and add it to your hand. That gives you discard fodder for Blaze Accelerator Reload: it lets you discard any card to draw another, even those useless Shells you’re getting on the cheap.
-Send Volcanic Counter to the Graveyard to ward off attacks, punishing your opponent with burn damage.
-Send another Blaze Accelerator Reload, and you can banish it to send any “Volcanic” card from your Deck to your Graveyard. You can activate that effect in your Main Phase, or your opponent’s.
If you send Volcanic Scattershot that way you’ll trigger its effect to burn your opponent for 500 damage. You’ll also send two more Scattershots to your Graveyard. That deals another 1000 damage total – 500 for each Scattershot – and triggers their ultimate ability to destroy all of your opponent’s monsters! It’s like playing Raigeki on your opponent’s turn.
If that wasn’t crazy enough, Lavalval Chain has two different effects. Instead of sending any card to your Graveyard, you can take any monster from your Deck and place it on top of your Deck. That’s an awesome way to set up plays with big boss monsters that would be impossible to search out otherwise.
Monsters like Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, Dark Armed Dragon, and Judgment Dragon are some of the fiercest, most destructive forces in the game, but don’t underestimate oppressive monsters like Archlord Kristya or Light and Darkness Dragon. Getting to those monsters reliably can create surprising strategies your opponents won’t be prepared for.
Lavalval Chain’s awesome in any Deck that plays lots of Level 4’s and uses cards from the Graveyard. Zombies, Koa’ki Meiru, Plants, Gadgets, and all sorts of other strategies love it, and now thanks to Premium Gold: Return of the Bling, this stunning Xyz Monster is within your grasp!
